MESSER SOLUTION
Tank systems, silos, pipelines and headspaces of bottles during filling are inerted more and more. In order to protect products from unwanted oxidation, the oxygen-containing gas atmosphere is replaced by an inert gas. Nitrogen is normally used for this purpose. However, depending on the kind of product, CO2 or argon or mixtures of these gases are also used. A distinction is made between tank inerting, in which an empty tank is rendered inert before filling, and head room blanketing, in which the gas space above the liquid is exchanged.
Advantages:
- No oxidative and microbial spoilage and therefore longer product shelf life
- Distinctive character remains intact
- Simple, cost-effective equipment
- Fire protection
- Protection from dust explosions
As one of the leading industrial gases companies Messer has many years of know-how in the field of inerting and provides the gases required.
